Festive Season Entertainment: What Are Indians Watching This October?

October has arrived, and if your festive plans include staying up late to watch "just one more episode," you're welcome to the right place. Between Diwali preparations, long weekends, family gatherings and those much-needed breaks from work, this month gives us reasons to settle down with a good movie or series.

Choosing what to watch sometimes takes longer than watching the show itself!

One minute you are scrolling through Netflix, the next you are checking Prime Video, Jiohotstar and Zee5, and you end up rewatching an old favorite. But October 2026 has many entertainment options on the lineup, from big-screen thrillers and new OTT releases to reality-show drama and returning favorites.

If you're a movie buff who loves the theatre experience, a web-series enthusiast who prefers a weekend binge or someone who never misses a reality-show episode, here is your October 2026 entertainment watch list.

Please note: release dates and streaming schedules may vary. Check the relevant cinema listings or official streaming platform before planning your watch.

Movies to Watch in Theatres This October

There is something special about watching a movie on the big screen. The surround sound, popcorn, audience reactions and that one friend who always predicts the ending before everyone else cannot quite replicate the streaming at home experience.

If a theatre outing is on your festive-season agenda, here are some of the notable October releases to keep on your radar.

Drishyam: The Conclusion

Genre: Crime thriller

Release date: October 2, 2026

Ajay Devgn returns as Vijay Salgaonkar, bringing the franchise's familiar tension and mystery back to the big screen. The film has released and is proving to be a must-watch.

Binge-watcher verdict: If your idea of a perfect movie night involves pausing the story to debate theories with your friends, put this one on your theatre watchlist. Check local listings for availability.

Release date: October 9, 2026, as announced

Where to watch: Theatres

Telugu cinema fans can look forward to Aadarsha Kutumbam House No. 47, starring Venkatesh Daggubati and directed by Trivikram Srinivas. Its October 9 release was reported by The Times of India.

What about regional cinema?

October's theatrical calendar also includes Tamil titles such as Demonte Colony 3, listed for October 9, alongside other regional releases. Dates can change, so Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and other regional cinema fans should check their local cinema listings.

Hot theatre tip: Before booking, compare showtimes, ticket prices and seat options. If you're planning a family outing during the festive rush, booking ahead can make the experience much smoother.
